“Whatever your problem, it is but a test in love. If you meet that test through love, your problem will be solved. If you do not meet that test through love, your problem will continue until you do! Your problem is your initiation in love.” – Florence Scovel Shinn
Continuing to explore tithing, remember that it is primarily an attitude toward God first. When you live life in this way, you are immensely blessed. This is why people who tithe prosper. It is not because of the money they give, but because they put the Source first in their lives in many different ways.
You can determine if God is first in your life by taking a good look at what you do with your time and money. When you put God first, you give time to knowing God and serving Spirit by helping others and by being involved in the uplifting of consciousness of our planet. You pray, meditate, study Truth. To give 10 percent of your time to these endeavors is just because God is your Creator and Sustainer.
Giving 10 percent of your income to support the unfoldment of spirituality on Mother Earth is fair. God is your source, just as God is everyone’s source. Everything that comes to us comes from this vast storehouse of good. When you know this, God is first, and you act from this spiritual realization. It is the foundation of your life, success, and true prosperous living.
God’s Challenge
In Malachi 3:10, God challenged humanity. “Bring the full tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house; and thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not pour down for you an overflowing blessing.” This challenge was issued because humanity was not putting God first.
In this scripture there is a prosperity principle at work which does not just pertain to money, but your whole life. If you are not as prosperous in every area of life, a check-up in attitude is in order. Ask yourself: “Am I putting God first in my every thought, word and action?” If you want to be more prosperous, comprehensively, then it is in order to put God first financially and in every other way.
It is interesting to note that some people struggle hard to eke out a living. Some of them even give a lot of thought to God, but too often it is just lip service. In order to live abundantly, it is essential to put God first, abundantly. When you do, you are truly living the more prosperous life. Ten percent of your thought, word, action and finances are really the best “bargain” you will ever find! With love, Rev. John (Adapted from Jim Rosemergy’s book, Even Mystics Have Bills to Pay.)
When people bother or annoy us in any way, it is because their souls are trying to get our divine attention, and our blessing. When we give them that, they no longer bother us. They fade out of our lives and find their good elsewhere. – Catherine Ponder, The Prospering Power of Love.
Anxiety About Money Vanishes! At first I resented the subject of tithing. But I soon realized that any prosperity law that had made millionaires of the Hebrews of old, and so many people since, was worth trying. When I began to tithe, all the anxiety about financial matters that had been with me so long, vanished! I have felt guided, protected, safer and calmer. More than any other single prosperity technique, tithing has changed my life. – A. S. California
