By Rev. John W. Adams
One evening while a larger, brighter, and louder thunderstorm than I had ever experienced, was raging, I stood in the doorway of my home, thoroughly fascinated by nature’s display. Quietly, I wondered what it would be like to have lightning and thunder at the same time! No sooner than I had that thought, it happened! There was the brightest flash of light and the loudest boom of thunder! It really got my attention, and I quickly retreated from the open doorway.
It being rather late, the rest of the family had gone to bed, but at that moment there was a collective, “What was that?!!” Even my mother, who had taken off her hearing aid, was startled by that might boom. You may be sure, I have never had such a thought since!
Florence Shinn wrote: “The Game of Life is a game of boomerangs. Man’s thoughts, deeds and words, return to him sooner or later, with astounding accuracy. Karma is Sanskrit for ‘comeback.'”
As explained in part one of this series, “The Chickens come home to roost.” It is mightily important to make sure that the “chickens” that leave are the ones you want to come back! If you persist in negative, destructive thinking, you simply cannot expect to reap prospering results.
If you think toward, speak words, or do unkind things to others, you are likely to reap unkindness in return. It may not come from the one to whom you directed your negatives, but from someone else who “tuned in” to your consciousness. You cannot expect to reap prosperous results by thinking or behaving as though lack in inevitable. The law of cause and effect works with exacting accuracy.
Most people make mistakes in judgment; do not always act wisely or lovingly, and sometimes, unintentionally offend or hurt others. Never the less, we are held accountable for our words and actions. When thoughts and actions accumulate the results can be quite devastating. Perhaps you have had experiences that prove this point. It is the law of Karma at work, paying you back in like kind. You have reaped what you have sown!
Fortunately, there is a way of rising above Karma; or setting it aside, as it were, so that you escape the consequences of your thoughts and actions. That is the Law of Grace, which is the positive application of he law of cause and effect.
You may overcome even years of wrong thinking and living in a relatively short amount of time by simply invoking the law of Grace. By so doing, you will be set free from past mistakes and their results. It will lift you onto the highest level of love in action. The Grace of God is His love for you over and above what you may seem to merit. In other words, it is the prodigal son story played out in your life.
When the prodigal son returned to his father, after having squandered his inheritance, no questions were asked and there was no condemnation or punishment. Instead, his father simply loved him, showered him with gifts, threw a big party for him, and there was much rejoicing.
This is symbolic of God’s infinite love for all of His children, including you. Love never asks questions, does not keep track of wrongs, and never punishes. That is why, when you invoke the law of Grace, and let it work in you, you go free free from past mistakes, guilt, and negative consequences. This does not, of course, give you permission to repeat past offenses. Actually, when you really invoke the law of Grace, you cannot repeat!
To invoke the law of Grace, declare over and over: The Grace of God is sufficient unto me.” Also, “The forgiving love of Jesus Christ now frees me from all of the mistakes of the past, and the results of the mistakes of the past. I now go free and I prosper.”
Declare the above hundreds of times, if necessary, or at least until you feel completely free. Follow with whatever outer action you are guided to take.
A person experienced what he thought to be unfair treatment from others. Actually, he had helped to bring that about by his own wrong thinking and actions. Wisely, he invoked the law of Grace by speaking the above affirmations many times, the matter was quietly resolved. Having learned from his experience, he continued to invoke the law of Grace, to live by Grace, and his life became delightfully harmonious, peaceful, and prosperous. You always have a choice: Karma or Grace. Choose Grace!
To experience more prosperity, it is essential that you live by the law of Grace. In do doing, you accept it not only for yourself but extend it to others, as well. This is making the highest and best use of this highest of the laws of prosperity. It always results in expanding and magnifying your prosperity.
Grace means Love – all forgiving, Your Golden Key to Abundant living. To all who invoke its loving power, God gives richly hour after hour! – Rev. John
Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as you can. – John Wesley
