A lady, who had suffered severe headaches for several years, explained that another person’s behavior really irked her, declaring, “It just makes my head swim!” When another Truth student helped her to realize the correlation between her angry declarations and her headaches, she vowed to choose wiser, more positive words. The headaches soon cleared up.
Jesus Chris, the Great Prosperity Teacher, pointed out the power of words when He said, “By your words you shall be justified, and by your words, you shall be condemned.” And, “Death and Life are in the power of the tongue.” He knew that spoken words had a very good chance of coming back in like-kind experiences. The wise would speak only positive, prospering words.
In my book, * Power Words for Prosperous Living, I wrote:
“Words can make your life miserable or marvelous, it is up to you. Just as what you think makes you what you are, words mold and shape your life because words are the expression of thought; ideas held in mind. Negative words result in negative, unhappy experiences, positive words result in positive, happy and prosperous experiences.”

For the person who says, “Nothing ever turns out right for me,” that is often the way it is for him. A person who was living in near poverty, often declared, “I’m always broke, what money I get just slips through my fingers.” For her, life seemed to be one “lack attack” after another until she learned that God is the source of her supply and opened her mind to all of God’s vast rich good for her. She declared often: “I am not bound by the past. God in me is my never-failing source and is always providing for me, richly and abundantly.”
Learning of the value of tithing, this lady soon enjoyed a new, happy life of continually increasing prosperity.
A storekeeper, when asked how business was, would say,“Slow and getting slower.” He was right. His business responded to his declarations. Fortunately, he learned of the power of the spoken words and changed them to, “Business is good and getting better.” He, too, learned to tithe and often declared, “My tenth to God I give back and He keeps me from all lack. He is the source of my supply. My Golden Key to prosperous living is giving, giving, giving, giving!”
Florence Shinn wrote: “The invisible forces are ever working for the man who is always ‘pulling the strings’ for himself, though he does not know it. Owing to the vibratory power of words, whatever man voices, he begins to attract.”
If the science of word power were taught in schools, beginning with kindergarten, or before, nothing less than a miracle would happen! There would be a wonderful revolution in human consciousness and behavior. It would result in more intelligent action and, we would all be more loving and peaceful, happy and prosperous. There is a lot of truth in the old Johnny Mercer song, “Accentuate the Positive, Eliminate the negative.” (And don’t mess with Mr. In-between!)
If “lack attacks” keep coming back, speak words such as, “I have had it with struggle and strife. God’s rich good now floods my life!” If you are sick of being sick, declare, “God’s perfect life now permeates me and I’m as healthy as I can be!” For healthier human relationships affirm, “I no longer fuss or pout, love and good will I now send out. I love all people and they love me and we’re all now living in harmony!”
To experience the greater prosperity you desire, it is important to watch your words and make sure they are in accord with your desire. Be on guard to speak positively, optimistically and prosperously and you will enjoy riches beyond measure!
You can prove to your own satisfaction that your tithes will bring a greater increase than any other property that passes through your hands. Tithing is the best investment you can ever make because it puts you in touch with the ceaseless flow of universal supply. Every phase of your life begins to reflect wealth. Dr. Catherine Ponder
Old Mother Hubbard lived in a shoe
She didn’t know what else she could do.
With children hungry, cupboards bare
Of God’s rich supply, she wasn’t aware.
If she just could’ve known, like you and I,
That God within is our rich supply
She and the children would have been happy to be
Living in overflowing prosperity! – Rev. John
